Muster 3/11/2015

Hesperus Muster
  • Welcome back - I hope you all had a great holiday and are feeling refreshed and ready for a busy second half of term.
  • Please remember to maintain high standards of effort, uniform and punctuality.
Notices
  • We are now in Winter Routine. This means games begins at 3.30 and Enrichment time begins at 5.00. You still need to register in Hesperus at 5.45 before going home or to supper.
  • Tutor Salute has been extended to Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday at 3.00. This will allow you more opportunity to see your Tutor during the week.
  • A reminder to walk along the sides of the Parade Ground - it is getting dark early and it can be hard to spot pupils in your dark  uniform.
  • A reminder that skateboards are not to be used on campus from Monday - Saturday. Full boarders can use them on a Sunday.
  • There will be a Sunday trip to Reading for boarders. More details to follow.
1XV Rugby on Friday night
  • The 1XV are playing Churcher's College on Friday night at Newbury RFC. Kick off is 7.30.
  • All boarders are expected to support the boys
  • We are leaving at 6.30 on coaches and should be back by 9.30.

Hesperus Chief - Seb Bearn
  • Seb spoke to the house about the importance of Remembrance Sunday. We must ensure our uniform is perfect and we are working hard on our marching this week.
Room Inspection - Mrs Waller, 21/10/15

Mrs Waller is clearly a strict marker! Well done to the few boys who received 10/10: Ed Chapman, Rory Findlay, Tom Perring.

Merits

Another excellent week with Hesperus receiving 74 Merits - the top score once again! Well done top all the boys who received recognition of their excellent work. In particular, Aldwyn Day (5), Mo Rizwan (5), Sam Holloway (4) and Louis Winter (4).

The list of boys receiving Merits is in the post below.

Student of the Week

Louis Winter receives the Elvis trophy this week for achieving the top average effort grade in Hesperus in the recent report. Louis achieved an outstanding 3.8 average.

Flag Value Award

There is a new reward in Hesperus - the Flag Value Award. This week each member of the U6 will be rewarding another member of the house who has demonstrated one of Pangbourne's Flag Values:

Integrity, Initiative, Selflessness, Moral Courage, Industry, Resilience, Kindness.

The recipients will receive their award and prize in Muster next week.

Muster 20/10/2015

Hesperus Muster

Praise
  • Well done to Ed Digby and Tom Perring who performed well for the Boat Club on Saturday.
  • A tough set of fixtures against Harrow on Saturday! Well done for being competitive.
  • Good luck to the Rugby squad leaving for Bordeaux tomorrow.
  • Congratulations to Andrej Ivanovic for his Music Scholarship.
Notices
  • With Seb Bearn away, Hugo Dwerryhouse spoke to the house about Remembrance Sunday and the importance of getting shoes, hair and uniform right after the half-term holiday.
  • The first weekend back is a busy one with the 1XV playing on the Friday night (all boarders to attend), Saturday fixtures and Remembrance on Sunday.
  • Thanks for your ideas in House Council - feedback was given to the boys.
House Inspection - Headmaster, 14/10/2015

Well done to the following boys for receiving 10/10:

Joe Bowden, William Fitchett, Charlie King, Ed Nash, Mo Rizwan, Oli Sale, Alex Spiers, Harri Doyle, Tommy Hessian, Kenny Xu, Louis Ellis, Charlie Riley, Seb Bearn, George Lacey, Matthew Montgomery, Alex O'Sullivan, Tom Perring

Student of the Week

Charlie Riley wins the Elvis trophy for his excellent effort, room tidiness and contribution to College life. Charlie's effort grades demonstrate the progress he has made from last year. Well done!

Top Effort Grades of the Half-Term

Hesperoids are challenged to achieve an average effort grade of 3.0 or above. The post below contains the list of pupils who achieved  this.

We also look at the average effort grades for each year:

3 Form - 2.6
4 Form - 3.1
5 Form - 2.9
L6 - 2.9
U6 - 3.0

House Average 2.9

A pretty good start but 3.0 is the target and we need to hit this at the end of term. Clearly the 3 Form have a bit more work to do!

Half-Term

It has been a busy seven weeks and everyone deserves a good rest. Please use the time well - some exercise, lots of sleep and spend time organising your files and reviewing your learning.

Make sure we finish the half-term well.
