Rowing Report on Bristol Avon Regatta (Sat 16th May 2015)

The boys’ Under 14 and girls’ Under 15 squads raced at Bristol Avon Regatta on Saturday. In the morning, one of two boys’ octuples manned by Messrs Van der Wyck, Chilver-Stainer, Beebee, Rossiter, Bissett, Hyde, White and Pearson, coxed by Thompson, beat Monmouth in the final to win their first tankard. The girls were on course in an eight to match such success but damaged their steering on a log and piled into a tree, having been a length up on an older crew from Millfield.

In the afternoon, the girls split into two fours and beat Avon County and Millfield en route to meeting each other in the final, with the crew of Bateman, Hare, Morrison and Harper, coxed by Whelan taking the silverware. The boys ‘A’ quad lost to a good Monkton crew in the first round but the ‘B’ crew won two rounds before being beaten by the same Monkton crew in the final.
