Hesperus Muster

Student Praise:
  • Will Broom and the other members of the 1stVIII who won gold at the Reading Regatta on Saturday.
  • Hugo Dwerryhouse, Seb Bearn, Matthew Montgomery, George Lacey and rest of the15A Cricket team for reaching the Berkshire Cup Semi-Final and enjoying an outstanding season.
  • Tom Nash took 4 wickets on his comeback match for the 14As.
  • Guy Trees has been awarded a Flying Scholarship for next year.

·         Congratulations to Will Broom who won a silver medal in the National Schools’ Regatta coxless fours event.

·         The 3 & 4 Forms received Interim Reports before half-term. Students with an average effort grade of 1.9 or below received pizzas. Well done to the following:

 Notices
      ·         The Falklands Memorial Service takes place on Sunday 16th June. The Chief and CCs are required to attend the service. Two members of the L6 need to help with car parking and eight boarders will help with serving lunch.

·         There will be a Hesperus BBQ this Saturday followed by watching the England v Argentina Rugby match at 20.00.

·         There will be a College BBQ for boarders next Saturday.

 All forms are now sitting or preparing for exams; ensure you are preparing well and working your absolute hardest. The working atmosphere prior to half-term was excellent (this is supported by the number of commendations we have received) – keep it up!

·         Hesperus presented our houseman Jack with a  card and champagne as Jack and his wife Katrina are celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary!

·         The boys clubbed together and presented Mrs Cane-Hardy with some presents for Darcey – these included a play mat and three outfits. A really kind and generous gesture. Thank you!

Shooting Success

Guy Trees reports on Pangbourne's recent success at the British Schools Shooting Championship. This was organised entirely by Guy.......
 
A team of six shooters Finn and Bex Slevin, Mathew Montgomery, Caspar Sugdon, Alex Carr and Guy Trees. Took part in the British schools and young shots championships at E.J. Churchill's High Wycombe. Overall we came 9th in the team event and Finn won the cadet high gun trophy an award that Pangbourne has now won for the past 4 years in a row.

Student Presentation

Will Broom told the Division about his success at the Gent Regatta during the Easter Holiday and his efforts at the GB trial last Sunday. Will highlighted the sacrifices he has to make to perform at this level and the enjoyment he gains from achieving success at this level.
