Rugby Report

As the weather closes in, the rugby club keeps going, training hard and playing some tough matches. Last week was no exception with Natwest Cup matches and block fixtures v Lord Wandsworth.

The U15As headed to Aylesbury Grammar School on Wednesday for a tough Natwest Cup game. They played incredibly well and, only 10-7 down at half time were in the game. Unfortunately they could not sustain their efforts and Aylesbury came out as eventual winners.

Also on Wednesday the U14, U15 and U16B teams headed to Lord Wandsworth for their fixtures. They all played well, showing true Pangbourne spirit. The highlight of the afternoon was the U14Bs 12-12 draw - their first result of the season.

The rest of the rugby club faced Lord Wandsworth on Saturday in horrendous conditions. The U14/15C team played touch, ensuring every 3rd and 4th form boy had the opportunity to represent the school and the rugby club. The U14A played well but couldn't cross the line, losing 12-0. The U15As bounced back from their cup loss to put their opposition to the sword running in an unanswered 41 points. The U16A also continued their impressive second half of the season, running out as 10-0 victors. The team hasn't conceded a point in their last 320 minutes of rugby - an impressive feat.

The seniors enjoyed mixed fortunes with the second XV winning 17-10 and the 1st XV going down 18-11, a game which they deserved more from.
