Pangbourne College Rugby Club Report
Week 5
The has been an excellent week for the rugby club with 7 wins and only 3 losses, but it isn't just the score lines which has impressed but the attitude of the boys around the school and the manner in which they trained.
The U15s won their Natwest Cup match versus Great Marlow School comfortably by 40 points to 10 on Wednesday. They progress to the next round and will play Sir William Borlase School next week. The 1st XV also were in cup action as they took on local school Theale Green. With many of the 2nd involved in the squad, the 70 points to 3 victory was a superb result.
On Saturday, the excellent rugby continued against Mill Hill. The U14s put on a good show and even though it was only a winning day for the As, both teams should be incredibly proud of their efforts. The 'Team of the Week' goes to the entire U15 squad. Both teams beat Mill Hill but in very different ways. The As cruised to a comfortable 70-0 victory but the Bs were just as impressive, fighting their way to a 5-0 victory. Success continued at the top of the school with the 2nd XV, who won 19-10, and the afternoon was rounded off by a 62-3 victory for our 1st XV.
Alongside the rugby, this week also saw the publishing of the inaugural 'Headmaster's XV', a monthly prize given to 15 members of the rugby club who have shown great commitment to the college, both on and off the field. This month nominations were Jamie Chilver-Stainer, Sam Holloway, Falk Von Wendorff, Jake Easton, Bastien Hamilton, Seth Grieve, Tom Paine, Alex Spiers, Jonah Rossiter, Dan Simmons, Arslan Dzhumamudarov, Cameron Barr, Jason Griffin, Myles Ward & Fergus Walker. Well done to these boys and a massive thank you for your efforts. I look forward to the nominations for October at the end of the month!
This coming week is crucial in allowing all teams to build up to the Shiplake game on Saturday. The rivalry between the schools stems back many years and I hope that all members of the rugby club can get some quality training in before the weekend. Good luck and thank you for your efforts so far this year.
