Pupil Praise
Hesperoids are achieving some brilliant things. Well done to the following:
- The Pringle Team for their success last weekend.
- Hugo Dwerryhouse and the Upper 6 for leading the Division so well on parade.
- The Rugby club for some excellent wins against Mill Hill - in the next week the 1XV have fixtures against Shiplake, Stowe and Harrow - good luck.
- The numerous boys who are working really hard to combine their music and sporting commitments in the afternoons - it is not always easy!
- Tom Perring who won in the doubles event at Reading Small Boats Head on Saturday.
- Louis Winter and Sam Holloway who achieved strong marks on their Drama Trinity exam.
- The following boys were selected for September's Headmaster's XV - Tom Paine, Seth Grieve, Sam Holloway and Alex Spiers.
- There have been some disappointing cases of cutlery being damaged at lunch time. Please make sure you're not involved and remember that this could cause a nasty injury to the excellent catering staff who wash up.
- A reminder of our mobile phone etiquette - you shouldn't be looking at your phone between lessons or in the Mess Hall.
- If you have Music lessons please make sure you turn up for lessons. They are expensive and your parents are charged for missed lessons.
Well done to the following boys who received 10/10 this morning:
This will be updated when Gail gives me the scores later
Merits
Please see post below. Hesperus are way behind the top of the league table and we need to start amassing Merits!
Student of the Week
Our House Scholar, Finn Slevin, awarded the Elvis trophy to Jamie Perring for his consistent effort, organisation and contribution.
Seb Bearn
Our Chief spoke to the boys about the Pringle competition, parade and Merits.
Areas to focus on....
- The 6 Form must ensure they are using Study Periods effectively.
- Our punctuality needs to improve. If a lesson starts at 11.25 we need to be in the classroom, not just leaving Hesperus.
A lot of us have been watching England lose at Rugby in the last week but it's worth reminding ourselves that England used to be good. In 2002 England were the best team in the world and the coach, Clive Woodward, had clear guidelines for the team. He called them his 10 Commandments and a number of them can apply to Hesperus....
1 Dress Must be presentable at all times.
2 Language No swearing in public.
3 Governors Team representatives to liaise with management.
4 Punctuality Must be 10 minutes early for meetings.
5 Selection Omitted players must congratulate their rivals.
6 Mobile phones Must not be seen or heard in team hotel.
7 Books/press No dirt-dishing articles (apply this to Facebook)
8 365 days England players are never off duty.
9 Be present Don't just turn up, make a contribution.
10 Fun Work must be enjoyable.
