It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the hockey club with
matches against a number of different schools. Last weekend saw two competitive
div hockey competitions with Harbinger winning the tournament at both age
groups and PJ coming second.
The U14A’s won a hard fought battle with Eton College
winning 4-3 after some incredible play in the first half allowed them to take a
3-0 lead. They also beat local rivals Bradfield 1-0. To add to these
successes, in the County Championships the team came third which bodes well for
the future of the club.
The 1st team drew 2-2 with Windsor boys in a game
that could have gone either way. Well done to Will Vaughn and Zac Leonard for
scoring two good goals. A physical game against Bradfield later in the week
resulted in a 2-1 loss despite us producing several goal scoring opportunities.
The 2nd XI continue their impressive run with a
5-1 win against Windsor and a 3-1 win against Bradfield. Congratulations on an
excellent run of form; long may it continue!
The 3rds and 4ths had matches against Bradfield
and Eton this week. Both teams are gelling more each match and some lovely
hockey is being played.
Finally, the team of the week goes to the U15A’s for taking
part in the U16 tournament on Tuesday, playing another match on Wednesday
against Lord Wandsworth and not letting the late start deter them from
thrashing Bradfield 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The hockey club looks forward to meeting Marlborough this
week.
