Hesperus v Harbinger Paintballing

Hesperus took on Harbinger at Weekend Warriors Paintball Park today. After being kitted out in camouflage overalls and goggles Hesperus formed a huddle and were given a Churchillian speech by Tom Yeulet - it was clear Harbinger were in trouble!

In the first game, Harbinger were attacking Hesperus and we had to defend two points in the woods. Harbinger would score 1 point for reaching a Jeep and 2 points for reaching a Tank at the back of the battlefield. Strong defence led by the 6th form ensured Harbinger scored only one point. The highlight of this game had to be Mr Stanford's kamikaze run into the heart of the Hesperus ranks and the shouts of delight as 20 guns opened fire. Needless to say Harbinger's Housemaster was hit more than once!

In the second game Hesperus attacked the jeep and tank. Excellent tactics ensured Harbinger couldn't live with the simultaneous attacks from left and right and we quickly scored all 3 points - Chris Batchelor sprinting to the tank to secure victory.

The third game was an elimination and Harbinger appeared to have the upper hand as they pinned down a group of Hesperites in the middle of the field and inflicted a number of hits, unfortunately Mr Cane-Hardy was in this group and can testify that a paintball on the finger definitely hurts! However, another group avoided the Harbinger guns and the third match was tied at 1-1. However, both teams were deducted a point for cheating (wiping paint of each other after being shot!)

The final game, entitled 'The Bridge', saw both teams trying to reach the opposition base. 3 points for crossing the bridge and reaching base and 1 points for going around the bridge and reaching the base. With the score at 3-1 to Hesperus knew that strong defence would secure overall victory. Tom Yeulet set up the defence leaving another group including Messrs Pringle, Pearson and Villar to try and reach Harbinger's base. The plan worked as our resolute defence held off Harbinger and the win was confirmed when we crossed the bridge to secure 3 points.

Well done to all the boys from Harbinger and Hesperus for being great sports and thank you to Mr Stanford for organising the trip.
A really good day and a convincing 6-1 victory for Hesperus!
